Renovation waste builds up quickly in Angus.
One day, you are removing cabinets and flooring. The next, you have drywall, trim, broken tile, packaging, furniture, and lumber blocking the driveway.
The right bin helps. The right loading order helps even more.
Load materials in the wrong order and you can:
Waste valuable bin space.
Create an unstable load.
Exceed weight limits faster than expected.
Leave sharp debris sticking out.
Delay pickup if the bin is overloaded or above the rim.
Use this simple system:
Heavy materials on the bottom. Medium-weight debris in the middle. Light and bulky materials on top. Keep everything level and below the rim.
First: Choose the Correct Bin for Your Angus Renovation
Before you start loading, confirm that you have the right waste category.
For most Angus home renovations, you need a Household & Construction Waste bin. This category is designed for mixed materials such as:
Drywall.
Flooring and carpet.
Cabinets and countertops.
Wood and trim.
Furniture.
Packaging.
General renovation debris.
Do not use the 8-yard bin for mixed renovation waste.
The 8-yard bin is strictly for specialty disposal. It is designed for heavy materials only:
Clean soil.
Concrete.
Asphalt.
It is not permitted for household or construction waste, including drywall, wood, furniture, insulation, shingles, or mixed renovation debris.
If you are unsure which category fits your project, review the services and current bin options before booking.
The Best Bin-Loading Order
1. Load heavy, dense debris first
Start with the heaviest materials. Place them directly on the floor of the bin.
Examples include:
Broken tile.
Brick.
Small amounts of concrete from a kitchen or bathroom demolition.
Heavy cabinetry.
Countertop pieces.
Dense flooring.
Small pieces of drywall.
Spread heavy items across the bottom. Do not pile everything at one end.
This keeps the centre of gravity low and helps prevent the load from shifting during pickup and transport.
Do not throw heavy materials from a height. Place them carefully whenever possible. This reduces the risk of injury, broken bin panels, and damage to the material underneath.
2. Add medium-weight materials
Next, add materials that are substantial but less dense than concrete, tile, or brick.
Good examples include:
Framing lumber.
Subfloor pieces.
Doors.
Medium-sized furniture.
Larger drywall sections.
Wood cabinets.
Window and trim pieces.
Break down large items when practical. Remove cabinet doors. Flatten cardboard. Cut long pieces of trim and lumber so they sit inside the bin.
Arrange medium materials across the bin instead of building one tall pile in the centre.
3. Finish with light and bulky debris
Light material belongs on top.
Load these items last:
Cardboard.
Insulation.
Plastic wrap.
Light packaging.
Carpet.
Small household items.
Lightweight trim.
Empty boxes.
This approach protects lighter materials from being crushed at the bottom. It also helps you use the full volume of the bin without creating an unstable mound.

The Four Rules That Prevent Pickup Problems
Keep the load level
Your renovation waste must be level from front to back and side to side.
Do not create a peak in the middle. Do not load material above the top edge.
A level load is required for safe transportation. If the debris is sticking out, the driver may need to ask you to unload or rearrange it before pickup.
Keep everything inside the bin
Nothing should extend beyond the sides or top.
This includes:
Lumber.
Metal.
Pipes.
Carpet rolls.
Branches.
Cabinet pieces.
Broken flooring.
Sharp objects.
Point sharp edges downward and place them inside the load. Never leave nails, screws, rebar, glass, or sharp metal sticking upward.
NEVER LOAD ABOVE THE RIM.
Do not climb into the bin
Use the rear doors when available. Our bins are designed for easier loading through the back and over the side.
Do not climb inside to compact debris. Instead:
Break down bulky items before loading.
Place smaller debris into open gaps.
Use the right bin size.
Arrange a second bin or pickup if your project produces more waste than expected.
Do not mix restricted materials
Some materials require a separate disposal category or special handling.
Do not place these in a regular household and construction waste bin unless confirmed in advance:
Paint.
Oil.
Chemicals.
Batteries.
Asbestos.
Tires.
Electronics.
Appliances.
Propane tanks.
Other hazardous materials.
Keep clean soil, concrete, and asphalt separate from mixed renovation debris. These materials are heavy and can quickly create weight problems in a general waste bin.
