Farm, Garage or Barn Cleanup in Lisle? How to Pick the Right Bin

August 20, 20266 min read

Cleaning up a farm property, barn, garage or estate in Lisle can create more waste than expected.

Old lumber adds up quickly. So do broken fixtures, furniture, drywall, fencing, flooring and general household debris. If you try to manage everything with a pickup truck, you may spend days making trips to the dump.

A bin rental in Lisle gives you one convenient place to load your waste. Tor Bin Rental delivers driveway-safe bins throughout Lisle and nearby rural areas. You can book online 24/7, load at your own pace and schedule pickup when the cleanup is complete.

This guide will help you choose between the 10-yard, 14-yard and 20-yard bins.

⚠️ The 8-yard bin is only for clean soil, concrete or asphalt. Do not use it for barn debris, household waste, lumber or mixed construction materials.

What Waste Comes From a Rural Property Cleanup?

Rural cleanups often involve several types of waste at once. Before choosing a bin, walk through each building and make a rough list.

Your cleanup may include:

  • Old dimensional lumber and wood scraps

  • Broken barn boards and shelving

  • Garage contents and storage items

  • Furniture and mattresses

  • Windows, doors and other fixtures

  • Drywall, flooring and carpet

  • Renovation debris

  • Fencing and non-hazardous building materials

  • Cardboard and bulky household items

  • Brush, branches and yard cleanup material

For mixed household and construction waste, choose a 10-yard, 14-yard or 20-yard bin.

If you are clearing only brush or clean lumber, tell us when booking so you can select the correct waste category.

If you are removing only clean soil, concrete or asphalt, use the dedicated 8-yard clean fill bin.

Compare the Bin Sizes

10-Yard Bin : 7' x 11' x 3.5'

The 10-yard bin is the compact option for smaller Lisle cleanup projects.

Choose it if you are:

  • Clearing one single-car garage

  • Cleaning out a small shed

  • Removing debris from one room

  • Disposing of a moderate amount of old lumber

  • Clearing a small rental unit or outbuilding

  • Handling a limited estate cleanout

The lower height makes it easier to load by hand. Its smaller footprint can also help when space is limited around a garage, barn or farmhouse.

Choose the 10-yard bin if your waste would fit into approximately three or four pickup-truck loads.

14-Yard Bin : 8' x 14' x 3.5'

The 14-yard bin is the practical middle choice for many rural property cleanups.

Choose it if you are:

  • Cleaning out a two-car garage

  • Removing shelving, fixtures and stored materials

  • Clearing part of a barn or workshop

  • Completing a medium-sized renovation

  • Handling several rooms of household waste

  • Removing brush or clean lumber from a larger yard project

The 14-yard bin provides more floor space than the 10-yard option without the extra height of the 20-yard bin.

Choose the 14-yard bin if your cleanup is larger than a garage cleanout but smaller than a full property teardown.

20-Yard Bin : 8' x 14' x 5'

The 20-yard bin is the best choice for large-volume, bulky waste.

Choose it if you are:

  • Clearing an entire barn

  • Cleaning multiple farm outbuildings

  • Completing a full estate cleanout

  • Emptying a large farmhouse and garage

  • Removing several rooms of renovation debris

  • Handling a major property transition

  • Clearing large amounts of bulky but relatively light waste

The 20-yard bin has the same length and width as the 14-yard bin but is 1.5 feet taller. That additional height provides substantially more capacity.

Choose the 20-yard bin if your project may create six or more pickup-truck loads of waste.

Quick If/Then Bin Guide

Use this simple decision process:

  • ✅ If you are cleaning one small garage or shed, then choose the 10-yard bin.

  • ✅ If you are cleaning a two-car garage, workshop or part of a barn, then choose the 14-yard bin.

  • ✅ If you are clearing a full barn, multiple buildings or an estate, then choose the 20-yard bin.

  • ✅ If you have bulky furniture, fixtures and household items, then consider sizing up.

  • ✅ If you are unsure between two sizes, then the larger bin is usually more efficient than ordering a second delivery.

  • ⚠️ If your waste is only clean soil, concrete or asphalt, then use the 8-yard bin, not a general waste bin.

Current Regular and All-In Rates

Tor Bin Rental offers two pricing options for eligible household and construction waste. Current starting rates are shown below.

These are starting rates before the 5% fuel surcharge and H.S.T. Final starting rates can depend on your postal code and delivery location. Enter your Lisle postal code during online booking to confirm current availability and pricing.

What the Regular Rate Includes

The Regular Rate includes:

  • Delivery

  • Pickup

  • A 7-day rental term

  • 1 metric tonne of disposal

If your bin weighs more than one metric tonne, the additional weight is billed at:

  • $130 per metric tonne

The Regular Rate is a good fit for lighter cleanouts involving furniture, cardboard, plastic storage items and other bulky materials.

What the All-In Rate Includes

The All-In Rate includes:

  • Delivery

  • Pickup

  • A 7-day rental term

  • Disposal fees for eligible waste

  • No additional weight charge for eligible waste

Choose All-In if you are removing dense renovation debris, old fixtures, flooring, drywall or a large volume of mixed waste and want a more predictable total.

⚠️ All-In does not mean every material can go in the bin. Concrete, bricks, tiles, asphalt, soil and shingles require separate handling and may not be mixed with household or construction waste.

The 8-Yard Bin Is Only for Clean Fill

The 8-yard bin measures 7' x 14' x 2'.

It is designed only for one clean material type:

  • Clean soil

  • Clean concrete

  • Clean asphalt

Do not use the 8-yard bin for:

  • Household garbage

  • Furniture

  • Old barn boards

  • Lumber

  • Drywall

  • Fixtures

  • Mixed renovation debris

  • Shingles

  • Soil mixed with garbage or construction waste

Clean fill materials cannot be mixed. If your load contains multiple materials or general waste, contact Tor Bin Rental before booking.

Rural Delivery Advice for Lisle Properties

Rural properties often have longer driveways, narrow access points, overhead branches and uneven approaches. A quick delivery check can prevent delays.

Before delivery:

  • Clear the placement area of vehicles, trailers and equipment.

  • Confirm the truck can reach the drop-off location.

  • Keep at least 12 feet of width available for truck access.

  • Allow approximately 35 feet of clear space in front of the bin and truck.

  • Check for low tree branches and overhead hydro wires.

  • Keep gates fully open and remove temporary obstructions.

  • Tell us about soft ground, steep approaches or tight turns before delivery.

The delivery truck is approximately 27 feet long, 10 feet wide and 10 feet high. The roll-off rails can reach approximately 16 feet high during placement.

Tor Bin Rental uses wood protection under the bin to help protect asphalt and concrete surfaces. Our bins are designed for driveway-safe placement, but the truck still needs a clear and stable route.

Load Your Bin Safely

Load the bin evenly from one end to the other. Break down large items where possible.

Follow these rules:

  • Keep all waste below the fill line.

  • Do not allow debris to hang over the sides.

  • Place sharp objects point-down.

  • Distribute heavy materials across the floor.

  • Keep doors and access areas clear.

  • Never place hazardous materials in the bin.

🚫 Do not put these items in your bin:

  • Paint, oil or chemicals

  • Fuel, pesticides or fertilizer

  • Propane tanks and cylinders

  • Batteries

  • Tires

  • Fire extinguishers

  • Asbestos

  • Freon-containing refrigerators, freezers or air conditioners

  • Explosives, ammunition or flares

  • Needles or medical waste

Check the FAQ and accepted-material guidelines if you are unsure about an item.
