Summer 2026 is officially here, and across Simcoe County, the sound of saws and excavators is in the air. Whether you are finally putting in that dream pool in Barrie, replacing a rotting deck in Alliston, or laying a modern interlocking patio in Innisfil, you have one thing in common: waste.
Most homeowners underestimate how much debris an outdoor project generates. A small patio can produce tonnes of heavy soil, while a medium-sized deck can fill a large bin with old pressure-treated wood and railings.
Choosing the wrong bin doesn't just cost you extra money: it can lead to cracked driveways or project delays. This guide will walk you through exactly which bin you need for your specific 2026 outdoor project, featuring our latest July 7 pricing and local advice from your neighbours at Tor Bin Rental.
🛠️ Identifying Your Waste Type: The First Step
Before you book, you must identify what you are throwing away. In the waste management world, mixing the wrong materials can lead to heavy "sorting fees" or rejected loads. We’ve simplified our categories to help you self-diagnose your needs.

1. Clean Fill (Concrete & Soil)
If you are digging a pool or ripping up an old sidewalk, you are dealing with Clean Fill.
Concrete: Only pure concrete (no rebar, no dirt).
Soil: Pure dirt (no grass, no rocks, no branches).
The Rule: These bins cannot be mixed. If you put soil in a concrete bin, it becomes "Mixed Waste," which is significantly more expensive.
2. Construction & Mixed Waste
This is the "catch-all" category for most renovation projects.
Decks: Old wood, composite decking, nails, and screws.
Outdoor Kitchens: Drywall, framing, and packaging.
Fencing: Posts, pickets, and concrete footings (if small).
3. Brush & Yard Waste
Perfect for landscaping overhauls.
Brush: Tree limbs, branches, and woody shrubs.
Yard Waste: Leaves, grass clippings, and small plants.
🏊 Project: Pools and Patios (Soil & Concrete Disposal)
Building a pool or patio involves moving earth: lots of it. Soil is incredibly heavy; a standard 14-yard bin filled with wet soil would be too heavy for most trucks to lift and could damage your driveway.
For these projects, we use specialized 8-yard Clean Fill bins. These are smaller in volume but reinforced to handle extreme weight.
If you are excavating for a pool:
Use the 8-Yard Soil Bin.
Rate:$300 (subject to HST only).
Note: Ensure the soil is "clean." No sod, no garbage, and no concrete chunks.
If you are removing an old concrete patio:
Use the 8-Yard Concrete Bin.
Rate:$350 (subject to HST only).
Note: The concrete must be free of rebar or wire mesh to qualify for this flat rate.

🪵 Project: New Decks & Fencing (Construction Waste)
Decks take up a lot of physical space but aren't necessarily as heavy as dirt. When you tear down an old 12x12 deck, the wood is bulky and awkward.
For deck projects, we offer two pricing models to give you maximum flexibility: Standard Rate and All-In Rate.
Which pricing should you choose?
Choose Standard Rate IF: You are disposing of light materials (cedar, pine) and can estimate the weight. You pay a lower base fee plus $130 per tonne.
Choose All-In Rate IF: You want predictable costs. This covers the bin and unlimited weight disposal (up to the bin’s safety limit).
Recommended Sizes for Decks:
Small Deck (under 100 sq ft):10-Yard Bin.
Medium/Large Deck:14-Yard Bin.
Full Backyard Overhaul:20-Yard Bin.
🌿 Project: Landscaping & Hedge Removal (Brush Bins)
Are you clearing a lot or removing overgrown cedar hedges? You don't need a heavy-duty construction bin for branches. We offer a specialized Brush Rate that is the most cost-effective way to handle organic yard waste.
The "Brush Hack":
If your load is strictly organic (branches, limbs, shrubs), do not book a "Mixed Waste" bin.
Bin Size: 14-Yard or 20-Yard.
Rate:$200 base + $110 per tonne.
⚠️ WARNING: Adding even one piece of lumber or a bag of household trash to a brush bin will revert the entire load to the $130/tonne construction rate. Keep it green to save green!

📅 New 2026 Pricing (Effective July 7)
We believe in transparent pricing. No hidden fees, no "environmental surcharges," and as of July 7, 2026, no fuel surcharges. The price you see is the price you pay, plus HST.
Extra weight on Standard/Brush rates is billed at $130/tonne (Mixed) or $110/tonne (Brush).
