Sharing a bin with your neighbour can make a cleanup cheaper and easier.
It can also create confusion if you do not agree on the rules first.
Who books it? Where does it go? Which materials are allowed? What happens if the load goes over one tonne?
This guide explains how to split a bin rental in Innisfil between two households without unexpected charges, unsafe loading, or driveway damage.
How Sharing One Bin Works
One neighbour books the bin.
That booking has one delivery address. The bin is delivered to one property and stays there until pickup.
The second household can bring its approved waste to the same bin. You can coordinate loading times or load together.
Set these details before delivery
Agree on:
Which neighbour will book the bin
Which driveway will receive it
How you will divide the base cost
What each household plans to throw away
How you will handle extra weight
When each household will load
Who will request early pickup or an extension
The person named on the booking is the official customer. That neighbour is responsible for the bin, the material category, the load height, and the final invoice.
✅ Simple rule: One bin. One booking. One delivery address.
Do not plan to move the bin between two homes. Do not ask for one delivery to one address and pickup from another. If both homes need separate locations, book separate bins.
For local details, review the Innisfil bin rental service area information before booking.

What Two Neighbours Can Share
A shared bin works best when both households have similar waste types.
You can generally share one household and construction waste bin for approved materials such as:
Furniture
Cardboard and boxes
Non-hazardous household junk
Cabinets
Flooring
Drywall
Lumber
Small renovation debris
Fencing
General garage or basement cleanout waste
Keep the waste category consistent.
If one household has household junk and the other has renovation debris, a standard household and construction waste bin may be suitable.
If the materials fall into different specialty categories, stop and confirm the correct bin before loading.
Do not mix specialty materials
⚠️ NEVER put soil, concrete, or asphalt into a household or construction waste bin.
These materials require the dedicated 8-yard specialty bin:
Dimensions: 7' x 14' x 2'
Soil: starting at $300
Concrete or asphalt: starting at $350
The 8-yard bin is for specialty disposal only. It is not for:
Household junk
Furniture
Drywall
Lumber
Mixed renovation debris
Brush
Yard waste
Do not mix soil with concrete or asphalt unless Tor Bin Rental confirms that the material category allows it. Heavy materials need the right container and disposal stream.
Dedicated options also apply to other materials:
10-yard shingles:$200 + $110 per tonne
14- or 20-yard brush:$200 + $110 per tonne
If your shared cleanup includes different material types, contact us before booking at info@torbinrental.ca.
Choose the Right Shared Bin
Use this quick guide.
Choose the 10-yard bin if:
Both households have smaller cleanouts
The waste is bulky but reasonably compact
You are removing furniture, boxes, flooring, or light renovation debris
Driveway space is limited
Dimensions: 7' x 11' x 3.5'
Choose the 14-yard bin if:
You are combining a garage cleanout with a moderate renovation
Both households have a medium amount of debris
You need more floor space for boards, cabinets, or drywall
Dimensions: 8' x 14' x 3.5'
Choose the 20-yard bin if:
Both homes are completing larger cleanouts
You have bulky furniture and renovation waste
You want more vertical capacity
You want to avoid a second bin delivery
Dimensions: 8' x 14' x 5'
Do not choose based on volume alone. Dense materials can push the load over the weight allowance before the bin looks full.

Current Innisfil Bin Rental Pricing
These are starting rates. Final pricing varies by postal code and is subject to H.S.T. A 5% fuel surcharge also applies.
Household and Construction Waste
Regular Rate
The Regular Rate includes:
Delivery
Pickup
A 7-day rental
Up to 1 metric tonne of disposal
Additional weight at $130 per metric tonne
All-In Rate
The All-In Rate includes:
Delivery
Pickup
A 7-day rental
Unlimited disposal for the approved waste category
“All-In” does not mean every type of material can go into the bin. Soil, concrete, asphalt, shingles, brush, hazardous waste, and other restricted materials still require the correct disposal category.
How to Split the Cost Fairly
Decide on the split before the first item goes into the bin.
Option 1: Split the base price 50/50
This works when both households expect to contribute similar amounts.
For example:
10-yard Regular: $325 ÷ 2 = $162.50 per household
14-yard Regular: $325 ÷ 2 = $162.50 per household
20-yard Regular: $350 ÷ 2 = $175 per household
These examples are before the 5% fuel surcharge and H.S.T.
Option 2: Split by estimated use
Use a different ratio if one household has a larger project.
Examples:
Household A: 60%
Household B: 40%
This may make more sense when one neighbour is clearing a basement and the other is disposing of a few pieces of furniture.
Option 3: Split the base evenly, assign overages by responsibility
This is often the fairest approach.
Agree that:
The base rental is split 50/50
Each household pays for extra weight caused by its own heavy material
Shared or uncertain overages are split evenly
Write the agreement in a text message before loading. Take photos of each household’s pile if needed.
✅ Agree on the overage rule before delivery. Do not wait until the final invoice.
Keep the Combined Load Under 1 Metric Tonne
The Regular Rate includes up to 1 metric tonne.
That allowance applies to the combined load from both homes.
If the bin weighs more than one tonne, the additional disposal charge is $130 per metric tonne.
Use this loading plan
Separate dense material before loading
Do not add soil, concrete, or asphalt
Break down furniture and cabinets
Flatten cardboard
Keep drywall and lumber organized
Avoid adding unnecessary heavy items
Choose All-In if the combined debris may be dense or unpredictable
For example, a pile of clothing, boxes, and furniture may take up plenty of space but stay relatively light. Tile, masonry, wet debris, and large amounts of drywall can add weight quickly.
Read the guide to the $130-per-tonne rule and Regular versus All-In pricing before choosing your rate.
If/then pricing guide
If your combined waste is mostly bulky and light, then the Regular Rate may be the better value.
If your combined waste includes dense renovation debris, then consider the All-In Rate.
If you expect more than one tonne, then compare the All-In price before booking.
If you have soil, concrete, or asphalt, then book the dedicated 8-yard specialty bin instead.
Load the Bin Safely
Both households share responsibility for safe loading.
Follow this order:
Place heavy items flat on the bottom.
Add larger flat pieces next.
Break down furniture and boxes.
Fill gaps with smaller items.
Keep the load level.
Stop before the material reaches the rails.
⚠️ Nothing can stick above the top rails.
Do not create sharp protrusions. Point sharp objects downward. Keep doors clear if the bin has rear access.
An overloaded bin may not be safe or legal to transport. If the material is above the rails, you may need to remove it before pickup.
Protect the Innisfil Driveway
Place the shared bin on the host property’s driveway or another approved location.
Tor Bin Rental uses driveway-safe placement methods, including protective wood under the bin, to help protect asphalt and concrete.
Before delivery:
Clear vehicles from the driveway
Remove low branches and obstacles
Confirm the truck has a clear access route
Choose a stable, level placement area
Keep the delivery path free of parked cars
Tell the other neighbour where to load
Driveway-safe does not mean every placement location is risk-free. Avoid soft ground, unstable edges, steep slopes, and areas that cannot support the truck or bin.

Choose the Right Rental Term
You do not have to use a seven-day rental for every shared cleanup.
Depending on availability, choose:
3-day rental for a focused weekend cleanup
7-day rental for a renovation or coordinated household cleanout
Monthly rental for a longer project
If the bin fills before the rental period ends, contact Tor Bin Rental to arrange early pickup.
Do not keep adding material after the bin is full. Request pickup instead.
If the project runs longer than expected, ask about an extension before the scheduled pickup date. Early pickup and extensions help both households avoid last-minute scheduling problems.
